Very high winds and bright sunlight make some very dramatic stormy pictures at high tide in Blackpool.

The first snow of the year early in the morning. As the low sun skims the landscape the countryside looks bleak and deserted.

Very low sharp sunlight on a freezing cold winter’s day. Open skies and yellow sunlight bring out textures and shapes in the woods and across fields.

Colour under darkened skies. Sometimes the darkest conditions can be really good for striking moody images. Especially in the colder months when sunlight is rare.

Private Road and St James Church in Hoghton on a rare few hours of sunlight. The low sharp sun in winter can create a stunning warm palette of colours and strong shadows.

Golden Hour in The Lodge on a late autumn afternoon. A very quick walk around the paths and through the woods as the sun rapidly vanishes. The combination of vivid blue skies and warm sunlight has created some stunning saturated colours.
