Walking by The Leeds Liverpool Canal in late autumn on a warm sunrise. As the trees are losing their leaves their silhouettes stand out against the stark blue sky.

To get to Rivington Pike takes a steep climb up a rocky path. On a stormy day there are dramatic views of the Pike and Pigeon Tower. On a good day Blackpool Tower and the wind farm out in the sea are visible.

High on Crown Point near Burnley is The Singing Ringing Tree. It’s a panopticon which means when the wind is in the right direction the tubes work like pan pipes to make its own music. The sound can be heard around the hills creating a serene atmosphere on the right day.

Smoke drifting across the moors early in the morning. Following a very hot day the dry grass caught fire in several areas. The following day smoke drifted for hours before the sun burnt it away.

A light snowfall and cloudy skies add drama to the hills around Belmont and Rivington in early winter.

The Lodge in Hoghton on a misty autumn morning.Pastel colours and silhouettes give a peaceful atmosphere.
